![]() Jeff Lopez First Class Graduate Sacramento Jeff is a deputy for a large Sheriff's Department in California. A majority of his career was spent on street patrol as a P.O.S.T. certified instructor in the three physical skill areas of firearms, defensive tactics and impact weapons. Jeff was involved in numerous physical altercations on the job over the years and witnessed many others. He wanted to improve his impact weapon skills and edge weapon defense and began his training in the Filipino martial art of Escrima with Maestro Dexter to compliment the training he had already received. Jeff immediately recognized the benefits of this warrior art. He learned more than just impact and edges weapon skills. Jeff learned empty hand skills as well as concepts and principles that significantly enhanced his survivability on the streets. The combat effectiveness of this fighting art came directly into play during several job-related altercations since he began his training with Maestro Dexter. Jeff plans to continue his training in the Filipino martial arts and hopes to integrate it into a law enforcement curriculum that will enhance their safety.
